Woman ‘marries’ a tree in front of family and now plans to change her surname

A Mother-of-two has held her wedding ceremony with a tree and now plans to change her surname to reflect her new marital status. The 34-year-old bride identified as Kate Cunningham, decided to ‘marry’ the elder tree in Litherland’s Rimrose Valley Park as a move to raise awareness about a campaign opposing the construction of a new bypass. Kate from Melling, told the Liverpool Echo that she had a hen do the night before and now plans to change her name to Kate Rose Elder by deed poll. Kate’s family and friends looked on as the bizarre wedding ceremony was held at a park in merseyside. Kate told the Echo: “My boyfriend is very supportive of my decision. “He’s even helped make props for the ceremony. “My oldest son was initially embarrassed when I told him I was going to do it, but now he has decided to come to the ceremony. It means a lot to him to be there. “My dad has been very supportive. He’s been out in his van helping to organise everything for the big day.”

The Lagos State Police Command, on Sunday, reported the capture of a 19-year-old individual from the Aiye Confraternity in Bariga zone of the state.
The Command's Spokesman, DSP Bala Elkana, said that agents of the Bariga Police Division captured the presumed cult member on June 26, at Odo-Eran Street, Bariga.
“He escaped after leading eight other members of his cult to carry out the murder. Five members of his gang were initially arrested and charged to court for murder.
“On the same date at about 5.30 p.m., the operatives arrested members of a three-man gang at Ifelodun Street, Bariga.
“The cult members arrested are responsible for series of violent attacks and robberies in Bariga. The suspects will be charged to court on completion of investigations,” he said.
Elkana, in an announcement, said that the suspect had been on the needed rundown of the Police for the homicide of one Ojo Taiwo in February 2019, at Bariga.

“SARS operatives attached to Ketu and Operation Crush swung into action and apprehended the two cult members:
“One locally made gun, an axe, one arrow and charms were recovered from them.
“They confessed to be leaders of Aiye and Eiye confraternities mobilising their members for a clash of supremacy. Investigation is ongoing,’’ Elkana said.
